Issue Position: Economic Development

Issue Position

Transportation and education are two issues consistently cited by businesses as their top concerns in deciding where to locate--above other concerns like taxes. These two issues are the keys to our future economic development and prosperity.

The arrival of rail to Dulles and continued investments in other public transit options in the Dulles corridor provide us with golden opportunities to develop livable communities with homes and jobs near to public transit.

Developing a larger corporate tax base is critical to our financial future. Loudoun, in particular, is too dependent on its residents to fund its priorities. We must navigate between the extremes of unlimited sprawl and zero growth approaches.

Expanding our corporate tax base means more jobs, higher property values, and more money flowing into schools--as well as reduced pressure on property tax rates. We can accomplish this in a way that doesn't sacrifice our open spaces or quality of life- but only with support from the House of Delegates, which I will fight for every day in Richmond.
